You can schedule an appointment online for a driver license or Real ID by visiting the Michigan Secretary of State website. Appointments are available at select offices statewide. When scheduling, you will need to provide:
-Your driver license number
-The last four digits of your Social Security number
-Your date of birth
-An email address
-A credit or debit card to pay the driver license application fee
-An appointment confirmation number

Steps to request an appointment at Michigan SOS
- Go to the Michigan SOS website
The first step is to go to the Michigan SOS website and click on the “Request an Appointment” link.
- Enter your information
You will then be asked to enter your name, email address, and phone number.
- Choose a location
Next, you will need to choose a location for your appointment. There are four locations to choose from: Lansing, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Marquette.
- Choose a date and time
Once you have chosen a location, you will need to choose a date and time for your appointment. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm.
- Confirm your appointment
The final step is to confirm your appointment by clicking on the “Confirm Appointment” button.

Get your REAL ID at Michigan SOS
